i received this mail earlier.

the af-ix mailing list is a list that is (was?) hosted in-region, on equipment that is owned by a participant  (or, at least, this was the case).  it is not public so people can speak freely;  it is not indexed by a for-profit search engine, for the same reason.

i, for one, am not comfortable with an un-communicated (on this list) move.  i’m told this was announced at the AGM - that’s not communication because not everyone made it to that  (virtual or otherwise) and it has *always* been the standing that anything decision is sent to his list via mail, so that people can digest at their own leisure.

personally, i do not think that this is a good move.
#1 -  you are not teaching domestic people to build capacity vs. be a consumer
#2 -  the product you’re consuming is out of region for many, or hidden behind IP transit  (and not likely to get better anytime soon)
#3 -  i think that it is appropriate for an ix association to be supporting an entity that is basically de-peering all over our region;  which is the sheer antithesis of what the organisation should be.  (if you don’t think that’s happening, i suggest you spend more time in local *NOG groups).

i don’t want to argue with your choice;  but, i do not want to be a part of this move.  i also *DO NOT* give you (whomever is moving this) permission to move my thoughts and posts that are a part of the original af-ix archives.  so, you need to figure out how to remove my name from the archives *before* your move please - next time, ask first to save yourself pain!
