usually a lurker but I'll unlurk for this

I echo Nishal's sentiments in full, and would add that even _considering_ google services for this move was a mistake born of extreme folly: we are a significant number of years into an era where google can no longer be impartially trusted. there are multiple documented cases, spanning back probably 6~7y now, of people who've lost years (or sometimes even all) their work due to an automatically applied policy shift from the google organisation.

and then that's not even touching on the current geopolitical concerns..

this move should be reversed instantly, and, probably, there should be a review of decisionmaking to understand how this harebrained idea could even happen - and then ensure policy adjustmentments so that it cannot again
