Hi Nishal, JP, et al,

Thanks for the feedback. Here's some context while we consider it:

1) We have always used Google for its collaboration tools including e-mail
and shared docs via various personal accounts -- and Google has always
received af-ix at af-ix.net e-mails because some of our list members use
Google's MX -- so the surveillance/AI situation remains unchanged AFAICT.

2) What *has* changed is that we recently unified this activity under a
single domain (af-ix.org), issued official e-mail addresses to our new
staff, consolidated our various Google Docs into a unified folder, and
migrated some of our internal mailing lists to that platform (e.g.
board at af-ix.org). This was essential for us to rapidly scale up our
capabilities and undertake certain activities related to the AfPIF
transition.

3) We thought that we had communicated these intentions via e-mail as part
of our various updates on the secretariat development process, but it
appears we did not do that well enough. We're doing our best here, so
please don't call for our heads ;)

4) The af-ix at af-ix.net archives have *not been moved or copied anywhere*
and cannot be imported into Google Groups. They remain hosted on the
Mailman server and remain accessible only to list members as they were
before.

5) The new mailing list has the same permissions as the old list. Only
invited members can post, view the archives, or list the membership.

6) The migration of af-ix at af-ix.net to members at af-ix.org can be rolled back
easily.
