INX-ZA has received many queries about its perspective on the upcoming afrinic board election. this is a pivotal moment for afrinic, and we encourage all eligible members - which means, all the IXPs here - to participate actively by casting their votes.

afrinic plays a central role in the stability and governance of the african internet ecosystem. sound leadership is essential — not only for the health of afrinic itself but for the resilience of the networks and communities that depend on it. as a long-standing stakeholder in this ecosystem, INX-ZA believes it is important to support candidates who prioritise operational stability, transparency, accountability, and a commitment to serving the community.

after careful consideration and engagement, INX-ZA supports the following candidates in the upcoming board election. we believe they are well-positioned to contribute constructively to afrinic’s recovery and long-term sustainability:

INX-ZA-endorsed candidates:
	•	seat 1 (north africa): abdelaziz hilali
	•	seat 2 (west africa): emmanuel adewale adedokun
	•	seat 3 (indian ocean): kaleem usmani
	•	seat 4 (central africa): laurent ntumba
	•	seat 5 (southern africa): carla sanderson
	•	seat 6 (east africa): fiona asonga
	•	seat 7 (non-regional / independent 1): adewole david ajao
	•	seat 8 (non-regional / independent 2): ben roberts

we believe these individuals bring a strong mix of community representation, technical competence, and governance experience. their leadership will be critical in helping afrinic return to a functional, community-driven, and respected role within the global internet governance landscape.

i’m happy to answer your questions; either on, or off-list.
